Tetea library

We have started sending the books to the library in Africa. Three friends had either had book drives or had been cleaning out their house and we sent 255 of their books (after selecting the paper backs and stamping the books). The stamp reads:

In Memory of Joseph Lawrence Chow
American Peace Corp Volunteer
10/10/85 - 9/22/09
Read, Learn, Serve
We sent the books by US Postal Service bag on Tuesday. We'll see how long it takes to get there!

We have started collecting books from other sources, and if anyone would like to donate, or run a book drive we would welcome the donations. Due to the cost of shipping we would like to ship only paperbacks. Any extra books we'll donate to the local library book drive in the fall.

The we site www.booksforafrica.org describes the types of books the library can use. We are working through Tetea, and their website is www.tetea.org/library.html. The library is complete, and now they desparately need english books.

Is it still time to organize a book drive?

Yes, but we would probably want to send them directly from California to Africa. We can discuss.
