Today, we heard from a Peace Corp Volunteer who had just returned from his service in Chidya Secondary School, 4-hr hike south of Ndanda. He had arrived a year after Joseph,and thus only got to know him briefly. In that short time, however,they became good friends. Apparantly, when Ndanda Secondary resumed school in the semester following Joseph's passing, the school and his students held a day-long memorial service for him. There, hundreds of students and faculty gathered on the weekend to remember and participate in activities that Joseph liked to do. There was a concert where students shared songs written for him, a run down the tarmac road that literally stopped all traffic, and a basketball tournament.
